The Walt Disney Company has changed course on its Disability Access Service, also called DAS.
Disney will now let shareholders vote on a proposal that asks for a review of recent DAS changes.
What is DAS?
DAS helps guests with certain disabilities wait for rides without standing in long lines.
In 2024, Disney made big changes to DAS rules. Fewer guests now qualify. This caused backlash from families and disability advocates.

What just happened?
Disney first tried to block a shareholder proposal about DAS. That proposal asked Disney to review the new rules and look at possible risks.
This week, Disney dropped its effort to block it.
That means the proposal will appear in Disney’s 2026 shareholder vote.
What does the proposal ask for?
The proposal asks Disney to:
- Do an independent review of DAS changes
- Let Disney’s board oversee the review
- Share the results with shareholders
It does not force Disney to change DAS right away.
Will DAS change?
Not yet.
Shareholders still need to vote yes for the review to happen. Even then, Disney would only be required to study the issue.
Still, advocates say this is a big step. The issue is now public, official, and tied to Disney’s leadership.

What’s next?
The vote is expected at Disney’s annual shareholder meeting in early 2026.
For now, DAS rules stay the same. But the future of Disney’s disability pass is officially under review.
