A Look at the Progress
Disney’s Lakeshore Lodge, slated to open in 2027, is making impressive headway. Situated on the former River Country site near Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground, the resort is already visible from nearby areas thanks to cranes and newly erected structures along the lakeshore.
Location & Purpose
Nestled between Wilderness Lodge and Fort Wilderness, Lakeshore Lodge is being built as a Disney Vacation Club resort, with deluxe-hotel appeal in mind.

Inspired by Nature
Disney promises a retreat “inspired by the majesty of nature and its enduring influence on Disney artists.” Early concept art echoes this vision, showcasing cabin-like designs and serene lakeside settings.

Structural Highlights
Construction is racing forward—by mid-2025, parts of the resort have reached their intended 10-story height, complete with cranes and conspicuous framing visible from Fort Wilderness and Bay Lake.

Character-Themed Amenities
Rooms are expected to feature loved Disney characters such as Bambi, Brother Bear, The Fox and the Hound, and Pocahontas. A themed lakeside restaurant inspired by The Princess and the Frog is also in the works.

Community Concerns
Some Fort Wilderness fans worry that Lakeshore Lodge’s size and prominence threaten the campground’s tranquil atmosphere, particularly when viewed from Pioneer Hall and the Settlement.

Stay tuned! We’ll keep watching Lakeshore Lodge’s rise and share more updates as they come.
